The 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross debuts with updated styling, enhanced technology, and available hybrid power, helping Toyota to remain competitive in the crowded subcompact crossover SUV market. Built in Alabama and arriving later in 2025, the 2026 Corolla Cross remains focused on practicality, value, and fuel economy.
For the 2026 model year, Toyota gives the Corolla Cross a sharper design with distinct front-end treatments for gas and hybrid versions, a more refined interior, and meaningful efficiency upgrades. All hybrid trims now feature Toyota’s latest hybrid-electric system. It delivers 196 horsepower and a Toyota-estimated 42 mpg combined in the Corolla Cross Hybrid. Gas models continue to offer front-wheel (FWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) options and return up to an estimated 32 mpg combined.

For 2026, the Corolla Cross receives a visual refresh that distinctly sets hybrid and gas models apart. Gas versions adopt a rugged new grille design, while hybrids feature a sleek, color-matched front fascia for a more refined look. A new Cavalry Blue paint option joins the lineup and is available on select trims. Hybrid SE and XSE grades also offer a two-tone configuration with a Jet Black roof.
Inside, updates include a reworked center console, a newly available 10.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, and the addition of the Portobello interior color on the XLE trims. Toyota’s latest multimedia system brings standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with premium audio from a nine-speaker JBL audio system available on higher trims.
Hybrid models utilize Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid-electric powertrain and standard AWD. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and three electric motors paired with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT). The combination produces 196 hp and a claimed 8-second zero-to-60-mph time. Toyota estimates fuel economy of 42 mpg in combined driving across all hybrid models.
Gas-powered versions of the 2026 Corolla Cross employ a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT. That pairing produces 169 hp, with an estimated 30 mpg combined for AWD models and 32 mpg combined for FWD variants.

In the highly competitive subcompact SUV category, the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross stands out for its blend of fuel efficiency, practicality, and Toyota reliability. With its latest updates, the Corolla Cross aims to provide a compelling mix of everyday usability, advanced safety, and efficiency, whether buyers choose gas or hybrid.
Primary rivals to the Corolla Cross include the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30, and Subaru Crosstrek. All offer similar dimensions and price points with a mix of gas and hybrid powertrains. Hybrid shoppers may also compare the Corolla Cross to the Kia Niro and Ford Escape Hybrid, emphasizing fuel economy and feature-rich interiors.
